Government of Delhi cabinet approves over Rs 40 crore to give insurance to lawyers registered at Bar Council of Delhi

New Delhi, October 30, 2020: The Delhi cabinet has approved over Rs 40 crore to provide medical insurance of Rs 5 lakh and term insurance of Rs 10 lakh to the lawyers registered at Bar Council of Delhi under the Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme, Law minister Kailash Gahlot said Friday. The lawyers will be insured under the Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme, which was announced by the city government in December 2019. The AAP government had set aside a corpus of Rs 50 crore for the welfare of lawyers under the scheme. ....- Read More.

Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana announces District Bar Association polls on November 6

New Delhi, October 14, 2020: The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana (BCPH) has announced district Bar association polls on November 6. It also set aside the notification for Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association (PHHCBA) polls for October 24 put out by the election committee head, senior advocate KS Sidhu. Allahabad High Court held Bar Council has no power to constitute Elders Committee for Bar Associations and Bar Council does not have the jurisdiction

New Delhi/Allahabad, October 10, 2020: The Allahabad High Court has held that Bar Council has no power to constitute Elders Committee for Bar Associations and clarified that the Bar Council does not have the jurisdiction to "usurp" the power for constitution of an Elders Committee under the Bye-laws of a Bar Association.
